We’re looking for a Junior Designer to join our development team, working alongside Rare. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level designer to gain more skills.

Overview:

We’re looking for a Junior Designer to join our development team, working alongside Rare. As a Designer, you're able to empathise with and understand the players, and you'll work closely with other teams to bring the game vision to life. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level designer to gain more skills and experience on a live title. 

What you’ll do:

  • Create clear and concise design documentation and visual materials that describe content, mechanics, systems, and features.

  • Design, prototype and own key gameplay systems.

  • Implement gameplay through the use of UE4 Blueprint visual scripting.

  • Work closely with the a testing community to ensure that we're making the experience better based on their sentiment

  • You will help determine the conventions, processes and practices used to create the product from inception to final balancing.

  • Implement strategies to optimise player engagement, retention, and overall satisfaction through effective gameplay design and mechanics.

  • Pro-actively contribute to the quality of the entire game.

  • Help assess the progress, quality and user friendliness of the game throughout it’s life via a range of methods.

Job requirements

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Knowledge and experience with level editing tools and scripting (Unreal Engine or similar).

  • Experience working on games within a professional working environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate seamlessly within cross-disciplinary teams and provide effective guidance.

  • Ability to work autonomously within technical and scheduling constraints

Important

The interview process for the Designer role is made up of 3 stages:

  • First interview (45 minutes) – An informal chat to discuss your experience and working history relating to the position with members of our Design team and our Head of Talent. In return, we will provide a full overview of the role, life at the studio as well as answer any questions you may have.

  • Second interview (45 minutes) – Second Interview with our Studio Creative Director and Head of Talent. This role will be focussed on the project and your skills and experience. You will have the opportunity to understand how our design teams work and the overall structure of our teams.

  • Final interview (30 minutes) – A final Interview with our Studio Head and Studio Production Director. This will be a chance for you to get to know the Senior Management team and all the things that make Lucid, Lucid! You will have a lot of opportunities to ask any questions about the studio and Culture.
